Concern as reservoir level dips to less than 45%

Burrator Reservoir, on Dartmoor, is just 44.9% full, according to the latest figures, and is close to the level it was at during drought-hit 2022, when there were hosepipe bans in parts of Devon and Cornwall.

The water level at Burrator is much lower than it was at this time last year, a wet summer.

South West Water figures, taken on August 10, show Burrator has the lowest water level of the region's six largest reservoirs.

Roadford is 74.2% full, Colliford is 56.6%, Wimbleball 49.3%, Stithians is 65%, and Blackpool is 58.2% full.

All these reservoirs, with the exception of Blackpool, are larger than Burrator, which has a capacity of 4,210 megalitres.
