Council development plans for Gallowhill

Officials quizzed on projects tailored to needs of its locals

Renfrewshire Council has been quizzed on how it plans to sustain the impetus of “encouraging” community development work in an area of Paisley.

The local authority and its partners, such as Active Communities and Engage Renfrewshire, have gathered “momentum” with projects tailored to the needs of Gallowhill.

Among the initiatives set up in the district, which has high child poverty rates, are a regular lunch club, men’s drop-in, litter pick, exercise class and walking group.

Moving forward, it is hoped sessions can bring together engaged residents and pave the way for the development of a formal group which could in time evolve into a community council.
