BRAUNTON gave B Division promotion-chasers Budleigh Salterton a run for their money for going down to a three-wicket defeat.

- by CONRAD SUTCLICCE

An all-out total of 191 with more than eight overs to go may have looked on the low side, but Braunton had a real go at defending it.

Budleigh got over the line with 11 balls to go, which was closer than it looked like being when they were 137 for three in reply.

Sid Fereday (2-30) and Jack England (2-45) tore into Braunton’s top order, reducing them to 40 for four.

Kyle Faber (64) and Steve Aston (25) helped the score along to 109 for five before Ed Doble (2-41) broke them up.

Ryan Harris-Cotton (4-35) ended Faber’s stay and winkled out most of the rest on Braunton’s way out.
