Jay aiming for a fan-tastic day on Arena milestone
Coventry Telegraph
|August 23, 2025
JAY Dasilva says playing in front of Coventry City fans is always special - and wants to make today's clash at the CBS Arena with visitors Queens Park Rangers even more memorable.
-
The game marks the 20th anniversary since the venue - then the Ricoh Arena - hosted its first event when the Sky Blues beat QPR 3-0 on Saturday, August 20, 2005.
A safety restricted crowd of 23,000 saw Claus Jorgensen write his name into City history, netting a diving header after 11 minutes for the first ever goal at the Arena. Dele Adebola then netted twice before halftime for a dream start for Micky Adams’ side.
Twenty years on, the Sky Blues face the Londoners again, with Dasilva stressing the need to build on last week's thrilling 5-3 win at Derby County. The performance ticked a lot of boxes, he said, and created a positive mood around the squad.
