COUNCIL SUSPENDED SERVICE DURING DISPUTE BUT NOW SAYS IT CAN'T AFFORD TO RESTART IT
BIRMINGHAM City Council has confirmed its pest control services for mice, bedbugs, cockroaches and more have been axed amid disruption from the ongoing bins strike.
The council previously suspended pest control services except for rat treatments to “prioritise public health” during the industrial action, which led to huge heaps of rubbish piling up during its height and fears over rodents.
It meant no bookings for mice, wasps, bedbugs, cockroaches and fleas.
But the council report has now confirmed services for these pests have been scrapped altogether as it struggled to cover costs.
