IF YOU'RE UNFAMILIAR with KGM, allow us to fill you in. It’s a South Korean car maker that was formerly known as Ssangyong. Still none the wiser? It’s best known for well-priced, generously equipped SUVs and pickups, ranging from the small Tivoli to the hulking Rexton and Musso. The new KGM Actyon is the second model to come from the brand since it was reinvented last year (the first being the family-sized Torres).
The Actyon is closely related to that car; they share underpinnings, engine, interior and some bodywork. The former has a more sloping rear end, though, and is slightly lower, wider and longer. That makes the Actyon larger than typical family SUVs such as the Dacia Bigster, Kia Sportage (our reigning Family SUV of the Year) and Volkswagen Tiguan.
