Can you literally not even at work? Take a deep breath and learn how you can be more productive when dealing with your daily 9-to-who-knows-when.
There’s no getting around it: we’re a stressed-out, anxious generation. And if you’re a millennial woman? According to the American Psychological Association, your stress levels are likely higher than those of your male peers.
But why are we so on edge all the time? What’s keeping us up at night and making us engage in the unhealthiest of habits (and yes, I do mean comfort eating with fast food delivery at 2 AM)?
For one, our careers. We’re at that stage in our lives when we’re still making our bones in the professional world, and since we’re statistically staying single longer, it’s no wonder we can’t help but be inclined to put our energy and focus on our jobs. For many of us, they’re what have come to define us. But can anyone really blame millennials—forced into a world where competition is more intense than ever—for being stressed? Add to that the fact that we’ve grown up believing that we could and would achieve anything and be the best if we just applied ourselves, and what you’ll get is a merry band of gung-ho achievers who are more prone than any generation to need some serious chilling out.
