The guys at Creative Rides have their fingers on the pulse when it comes to the Muscle car industry in South Africa so when a 1965 Ford Mustang convertible came rolling into the shop from Hartebeespoort, they knew that they had the perfect car for one of their best clients – Sasha. Sash has always loved the iconic Mustang however, this project was commissioned for his wife to her specifications.
The Mustang needed some serious TLC. The body was in a good condition however the paint, motor and interior needed a lot of work. The car was stripped by the Creative Rides crew and the body was sent off to Pera Auto for the bodywork. They did some minor rust repairs and a fixed a few small dings here and there and then the Mustang was ready for paint. Sasha wanted something different when it came to the colour – something that would be a head turner – so his wife, Mariette, decided on a candy apple red.
With the body in the shop, the original 289 motor was sent to All American Muscle. The motor was not modified in any way however, it needed a rebuild to get the power back to factory specifications. Deon Swanepoel rebuilt the motor to perfection and the decision was made to change the gearbox from manual to auto.
