The road to starting a family is not as easy as it looks. You may have planned your life according to a schedule; to get married and start a family at a certain age. But, what if after trying for a while, you find yourself falling behind on this program and struggling to conceive? Lindiwe* never thought that she and her husband would have any trouble conceiving. And, even after both underwent a check-up, the last thing they expected was to be told that they would never have children. “I was 29 and expected to fall pregnant soon. When the doctor gave me the diagnosis over the phone, I burst into tears,” she remembers. The doctor told her that her husband Mandisi* had a very low sperm count, and falling pregnant would be impossible without intervention.
