Vettel Takes Monaco

Sebastian Vettel and Ferrari re-gained some dominance in the 2017 season as they stormed to a prancing horse one-two at the Monaco Grand Prix, with Kimi Raikkonen securing second place. This is the first time Ferrari have secured a one-two since 2010, and they last won the Monaco Grand Prix in 2001, with Michael Schumacher behind the wheel. This result catapulted Ferrari back into the lead for the 2017 Constructors Championship.

Third place was occupied by Daniel Ricciardo who had a hairy grazing with a barrier on the 71st lap, but it didn’t affect his car noticeably. He was followed by Valtteri Bottas in the first of the Silver Arrows. The second Mercedes of Lewis Hamilton had a dismal race after starting in 13th place, but ended up in the points, with a seventh place finish, a creditable achievement given Monaco’s limited opportunities for overtaking. This result left him 25 points adrift of Vettel in the Driver’s Championship.
