To Redefine Future Of Mobility
New Technologies

Innovative technologies will redefine the future of mobility and transport infrastructure, this was the idea highlighted at the 59th Annual Convention of The Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) with the theme: ‘Moving into A New Era of Auto Industry.’

Speakers from across the industry discussed how innovation, technological breakthrough and automation are set to change the future of mobility globally. They deliberated on viable pathways for future mobility and smart manufacturing.

About the future of mobility, John Moavenzadeh, Executive Director, Urban Mobility Professional Education, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Senior Advisor, Deloitte, and Founder and Managing Partner, Mobility Nexus LLC, said, “Digitisation and new business model would shift mobility focus from products to service. Consumer behaviour has shifted from vehicle ownership to pay-per-use models. Shared mobility will dominate the future, while traditional mobility will continue to remain relevant. Mobility will get more integrated, with data at the core of mobility integration powered by mobility data and advanced technologies.”

Drawing a comparison between global perspectives and the Indian context, Rahul Jain, MD and Senior Partner, The Boston Consulting Group, said that current challenges which the auto industry in India is facing will lead to increased partnerships across government, infrastructure and overall industry.

Gurpratap Boparai, MD, Volkswagen India Pvt Ltd and Skoda Auto India Pvt Ltd, opened the floor for discussions around Industry 4.0 and said that this revolution would help bring about smart manufacturing. However there has to be a roadmap which will allow a smooth transition, he said.
