A conversation with artist Dushyant Patel.

Visual Dialogues of Nature

In an era marked by growing ecological consciousness and a resurgent need for emotional depth in art, Dushyant Patel stands out as a powerful voice that merges empathy, activism, and aesthetic brilliance. His work is not just about colour and canvas—it’s about conscience. In this exclusive interview with Woman’s Era, Patel delves into the inspiration behind his collections, the evolution of his creative process, and the sociopolitical motivations driving his most recent series.

imageWhat inspired your recent work towards the concept of animal exchange?

My most recent work, Shifting Thoughts, explores the global phenomenon of animal exchange and its profound implications.

By investigating the practice of removing animals from their natural habitats and relocating them into unfamiliar environments, my work sheds light on the complex relationships between humans and animals. It also inveighs the way we treat animals as commodities, often prioritising our own interests over their well-being. This commentary is meant to prompt viewers to reflect on the consequences of our actions on the natural world and the lives of the creatures that share it with us.
