When Matilda Green was offered her dream radio role co-hosting alongside Matty McLean on The Hits, she didn't have to think twice. Well, almost. There was just the small matter of her three little cherubs at home, Milo, five, Autumn, four, and 18-month-old Penelope.

Taking on a full-time radio job when life already felt so busy was always going to be a logistical juggle, but Matilda had the unwavering support of her husband Art, who has stepped into stay-at-home-dad mode so she can grab the opportunity with both hands.

"It’s very tricky with a young family because the show is from 3pm till 7pm, which is peak-parenting time," explains the devoted mum, who met her husband on The Bachelor NZ 10 years ago.

"I really wanted to do it, but of course, it's not just up to me. It affects Art and our family a lot. But we had a few chats and decided he would be full-time dad, I'd be the worker in the family and we'd just muddle through for six months.

"It’s been amazing. Art is such an engaged dad that he’s actually really enjoying it. I have FOMO at times. I'm like, ‘Oh, he’s taking them out to the beach after school. I want to go too!'"

It’s four months since podcast queen Matilda, 34, stepped in to cover radio star Polly “PJ” Harding’s maternity leave and she's loving every minute working alongside broadcasting veteran Matty, 38, on The Hits Drive.

Their easy chemistry and shared sense of humour - not to mention their matching nicknames - have made them winners with listeners and as the two Mattys join us for a Woman's Day photoshoot, it's clear to see they've formed a firm friendship.
