MIKE BAILEY
ABC, Sydney
Mike was known as the ABC's "legendary" weatherman and was there for decades, beloved for his unflappable nature. He once revealed he regretted being typecast as a weatherman, saying, "I have moments when I do regret doing the weather but you can only live life one way."
In 2007 he retired from the ABC to run for Labor against Joe Hockey in North Sydney, but was unsuccessful.
A mad-keen rugby league follower and supporter of the Western Suburbs Magpies, he was awarded an Order of Australia Medal (OAM). Mike, who passed away in June 2021, was married to Miss Helena, the much-loved host of Romper Room.
ANNE WILLS
Nine, Adelaide
Discovered by Nine executives during the 1964 Miss Telethon Quest, Anne was quickly snapped up for her bubbly personality and stage presence.
She became a weather presenter in July 1965, and would go on to become a major South Australian TV and radio personality, hosting and appearing on a number of chat and variety shows.
From her humble beginnings as a weather girl, Anne, now 79, holds the record for the most number of Logies won by a person in the history of the awards. She also has an OAM for Service to Broadcast Media.
BRIAN BURY
Nine, Sydney
He always had a sunny disposition, regardless of what the weather was doing. Brian wasn't only a weatherman - he enjoyed an illustrious career as a serious newsreader across all TV networks.
