1 KEEP YOUR LAUNDRY FRESH
Forget chemical scent additives, air-drying is best for lovely-smelling laundry, preferably outdoors. ‘When that’s not possible and drying has to be done inside, make sure it’s completely dry and well aired to prevent musty smells. Clothing, bed linen, and towels will take on a smell if put away when not completely dry,’ says Nancy Birtwhistle, author of The Green Budget Guide (see page 154). ‘For spot-cleaning of dry-clean-only clothing, try a pad dipped in surgical spirit, which will immediately remove make-up from collars, for example, and will quickly evaporate, leaving no trace of a mark and no residual smell.’
