Our simple eating plan and time-and- tone workout brings results in a flash

We've all been there – digging out our favourite shorts or summer dresses from last year and finding it all feels a little snug. After months of comfort eating and limited movement, it's easy for the pounds to creep on. But, don't worry! With our beat-the-bulge meals and tum-toning exercises, you could lose 5lb in a fortnight and be back in your warm-weather wardrobe in next to no time.

WHAT TO DO

'First cut out processed food, refined sugars and fizzy drinks,' says fitness coach Suzy Alvarez. Follow the diet for at least two weeks – or longer if you wish – and make sure you drink plenty of water and green or herbal tea. This diet is flexible, too, meaning you can mix and match the meals from different days if you feel like it.

'Then do exercises that focus on your core – the muscles around your tummy and organs,' says Suzy.

BEAT THE BLOAT

EASY STEPS TO A FLATTER TUM

1 DRINK UP Not only is it very important to drink water during exercise – especially in the heat – but in fact, not getting enough fluids can also lead to poor digestion, making bloating more likely. Aim for six to eight glasses a day.

2 APPLY HEAT Place a heat pad or hot-water bottle on your tummy to help trapped gas move out of the intestinal tract.

3 EAT EARLIER
