Women will always have secrets from men, like buying a new outfit and pretending it's something we've had for ages. I think it's sensible of millennial and Gen Z women to have secret savings. I'm single now but I've been a secret saver in the past and I don't think it's unusual.

One of my long-term partners years ago was a bit miserly and whenever we went clothes shopping, we'd argue over my 'expensive' tastes. So I started secretly stashing away £60 a month, leaving me with £720 a year he didn't know about. I kept it to spend on treats for myself, like nice shoes or perfume, and did it for the best part of a decade without him noticing.
