Bathroom MAKEOVER

When a leak forced Jenny Tumilty to revamp her upstairs bathroom sooner than expected, she was determined to achieve a high-end look on a tight budget

After missing out on another property nearby, my husband, Kev, and I fell in love with this three-storey house in Hartlepool.

Our first home - a three-bedroom 1930s semi - was just around the corner, but we wanted an older property to do up. And as we planned to expand our family, this six-bedroom house that came with a side garden and rear driveway was ideal.

After tackling the electrics, plumbing, plastering and flooring, we started decorating room by room, starting with our daughter Georgina's bedroom. Then two years ago, we got around to the first-floor bathroom.

GETTING STARTED

It was a slow leak from the bath that eventually prompted our revamp. We were going to live with the old bathroom for a bit longer, but when the ceiling started sagging in the kitchen below, it became an urgent job.
