Davina McCall on coming to terms with her brain surgery, making sure her kids are OK, and why she has no plans to rest

I want to LIVE LIFE NOW

It’s hard to believe that just a few months ago, Davina McCall was having major surgery to remove a colloid cyst from her brain. But after some much-needed rest and healing time, Davina is back and feeling more grateful than ever, revealing, ‘Obviously it changes [things]. You have a new outlook on life, gratitude, love for people, love for nature, love for architecture - everything looks beautiful.’ She adds, ‘I’ve always been a grateful person but this brain operation has supersized my gratitude. I remember saying, “If it’s a success, it will change my life forever, in a really good way.”’

Here, the star reveals how the operation has shaped her, why she needed to ‘let go’, and her plans to do as much as possible now. Davina’s operation, which took place in November, was not a decision she took lightly. The benign tumour was first discovered in August 2023 during a routine body scan, and Davina says, ‘I just heard the word benign and thought, “Oh, that’s OK.”’

But after discovering that leaving the 14mm tumour could mean she had a small chance of dying at any moment, Davina says, ‘The risks were better than living with the 1% fear of dropping dead at any moment.’
