Open-back headphones promise big soundstages and airy detail-music that feels like it's around you, not jammed into your head. But they usually come with baggage: high impedance, bulky builds, and bass that's more theory than thump. The HD 505 follows the classic open-back playbook but rewrites the rules to make it easier to live with. First off, these things are absurdly comfy. Like, "forget-you're-wearing-them" comfy. Sennheiser nailed the balance between clamp force and weight, and the slimmer, flatter profile won't make you look like you're gearing up for orbit. Copper accents add just enough flair to the otherwise all-black aesthetic. It's all very grownup, but not boring.
