The battle between want and need is endless, what's not is probably your search for a flagship-level phone (for real this time) for not much money. Remember the OG OnePlus? And what the brand was all about at the time of inception? Well, it seems the 'R' in 11R stands for 'roots'.
Going back to the roots comes with a bit of pruning as we've seen before. The obvious one includes the missing Hasselblad badge, the rest is mostly internal. The 11R is identical to the flagship which can be a good thing or a bad thing depending on your personality. Since, on the subject, the 11R has oodles of it thanks to its sandstone back.
The front gets a 6.74in curved AMOLED display with a 2772x 1240 resolution (about 35% less PPI than the flagship) and slim bezels. The display gets plenty bright to actually enjoy some HDR contend on Netflix and it won't make you squint even under harsh sunlight.
Yes, the Snapdragon 8+ Gen1 SOC performs as expected. It's lightning quick with everyday tasks, has great RAM management and only flinches when you throw a game like Apex Legends on it. Frames drop in busy scenes with multiple squads, however, the phone doesn't heat up even if stressed. Which is commendable.
