A Guiding Light

When you think about influential female voices in the custom integration industry, while there are many, a certain few rise to the top of the list on their own. Angela Larson is certainly one of them, and it's because of not only the incredible accomplishments she's achieved over the years, but the impact she's had on future generations of female leaders.

So, to be able to sit down with her and tap into that wealth of knowledge and experience was a must for this particular issue of Residential Tech Today. As the Senior VP of Professional Solutions at Savant, Angie's experience is on full display on a daily basis. She guides the product journey for one of the biggest brands in the automated lighting and shading (and power) segment. And, through her efforts, she's also influenced many within the industry to always strive to achieve more.

MEO: How did you come into the industry?

Angie Larson: I actually came into the industry on the lighting control side. I used to be with a company called Lite Touch, if you can believe it, back in 1998. So, I have been in the industry a long time on the lighting control side. You know what was really fun? LiteTouch was a privately owned company, and ultimately sold to Nortek around 2008, and I got to be part of the fun as they were rolling out. Interestingly enough, in 2012, Nortek sold our division to Savant which ended up being fantastic. So, I lived through two acquisitions. I’ve been with Savant since 2012, and having come from the lighting control side, it was really exciting to see the evolution of the market, especially because lighting is true to my heart and I’ve had the opportunity to witness, firsthand, the massive evolution it’s gone through in our industry.

MEO: Tell us a bit more about this evolution of lighting and how it ties into the smart home?
