We took the top-spec Tata Tiago EV for a full drive to see whether it lives up to its promise of affordable, everyday electric mobility. The result? A compact EV that delivers where it matters—while making a few compromises along the way.

A familiar face, an electric heart
Based on the well-known Tiago hatchback, the EV version replaces the petrol motor with a permanent magnet synchronous motor, powered by a 24 kWh battery. Tata claims 315 km of range (MIDC), but we managed a realistic 184 km in mixed driving with AC on. That makes 190 km a safe daily estimate, sufficient for most commutes, school drops, and errands. It's not a dealbreaker. For its intended role as an urban family car, the range feels adequate, provided you're not pushing long highway stints without planning.
