Geo-located pricing makes sense where the cost of living differs radically, but a number of industries are exploiting your IP address to charge you more than you ought to be paying.
Airlines - particularly those based in the USA - are known to use your IP address's geo-location data to determine how much to charge you for a flight. If you connect to the internet from one of the wealthier parts of the USA, you could find yourself paying almost $300 more for a flight from Paris to New York than if you're connecting from France. This goes along with practices such as surge pricing (where ticket prices automatically increase if many are being bought at a given time) and other price-inflation tactics.
