A superbly built Wi-Fi 7 AP with good performance and the best remote management features in town

- DAVE MITCHELL

Ubiquiti U7 Pro Wall

PRICE £155 exc VAT from broadbandbuyer.com

Ubiquiti Networks offers a range of wall-mounted wireless access points (APs), and two of its new models bring WiFi 7 into play. The entry-level U7 In-Wall is a low-cost dual-band AP with a pair of uplink ports, while in this review we look at the flagship U7 Pro Wall model.

It doesn't have any uplink ports, but makes up for this as it's a tri-band model offering six spatial streams equally spread across the three radios. Its BE10800 rating claims maximum speeds of up to 688Mbits/sec on its 2.4GHz radio, 4,324Mbits/sec on 5GHz and 5,764Mbits/sec on 6GHz.

Pick up the AP and you'll get a clear idea of its burly build quality; the solid aluminium chassis and polycarbonate cover tip the scales at a hefty 580g - TP-Link's EAP725-Wall only weighs 366g. The kit includes a wall-mount bracket and template card with a spirit level, and Ubiquiti offers an optional table stand for around £31 and a paintable front cover for £25.

As with most competing WiFi 7 APs at this low price, you get a 2.5GbE multi-gigabit port supporting an 802.3at PoE+ power source. The AP doesn't have a socket for an external power adapter, but Ubiquiti offers a 2.5GbE PoE+ injector for £16.
