Sleek, stylish and packing a superb OLED panel, this is the best high-end Chromebook since the Pixelbook

- TIM DANTON

Samsung Galaxy Chromebook Plus (2024)

PRICE Core 5, £624 (£749 inc VAT) from samsung.com

Ever since Google retired the Pixelbook, we've been waiting I for a truly luxurious Chromebook.

Well, that wait is over: the Galaxy Chromebook Plus not only features a 15.6in AMOLED laptop and premium, slimline design, but it also packs enough power to keep Chrome OS happy for years.

The design will grab you from the moment you lift it from the box.

It's supermodel-slim at 11.8mm, and Samsung doubles down on this by giving the metal chassis an attractive matte, dark blue finish. Add a weight of 1.2kg and you'll struggle to find anyone who doesn't love the look, feel and weight of this laptop.

Samsung then thoroughly spoils us with an AMOLED panel. My unit reached a peak brightness of exactly 400cd/m² (the typical brightness Samsung claims), which is plenty for every lighting condition you'll encounter other than blazing sunlight. The glossy panel doesn't help. But AMOLED's perfect contrast ensures you can still make out what's going on, while its 99% coverage of the DCI-P3 space means films look great. Whites are top-notch, too.
