A solid foundation for Nvidia's RTX 5060 graphics, this is a stylish PC that can be dispatched within a day

PCSpecialist Frostbyte Elite

It's hard to think of a greater contrast to the bombastic Chillblast Poseidon than this demure PC. It's a mid-tower unit, but being based on Corsair's all-white 3000D chassis it's so discreet that it could appear in a Habitat catalogue and not look out of place. Providing you switch off the RGB lighting on its three front-facing fans, at least.

The Frostbyte - a brief round of applause to PCSpecialist for this PC's name - is also discreet in operation. During working hours you'll barely notice the whisper of the fans if this PC is sitting next to you on a desk, and even when playing games it never roars.

That's partly due to the efficiency of the RTX 5060 card, making its debut here. This sits at the bottom of the RTX 50 series pecking order, with 3,840 CUDA cores, a 2,497MHz boost clock and 448GB/sec memory bandwidth - almost twice that of the RTX 4060. The 5060 Ti (see issue 370, p62) has the same bandwidth but typically comes with 16GB rather than 8GB of RAM, while also packing 4,608 CUDA cores and a 2,572MHz boost clock.

Jon Honeyball wants to make you Wi-Fi Aware as a new standard comes into town

There's a potentially fun and funky new WiFi protocol coming soon for your mobile devices. Called WiFi Aware, it's a similar idea to the existing WiFi Direct protocol - but while that technology has been largely ignored, this one has me genuinely excited.
