An excellent showcase for AMD's new Ryzen 7 9850X3D processor, but the law of diminishing returns applies

Hyte – a sister brand of California-based iBuyPower – is known for its attention-grabbing cases, but the X50 Air on show here is a more subtle affair. With a matte, honeycomb metal design that curves around the chassis from top to bottom it's reminiscent of a giant speaker. Or at least, it is if you choose black: this chassis is also available in white, cherry red, lime green, “strawberry milk” pink and a crayon-like purple.

From a PC builder's perspective, the X50 Air is a joy to work inside. It's extremely well built, with an anodised finish and no rough edges. The sides lift off to reveal either the main area, as shown in the picture above, or the rear of the motherboard if you need to access the 3.5in hard disk caddy or 850W modular Corsair RM850x power supply. Aside from neatly arranged cables, there's nothing else to see here.
