Swiss-made precision finds strong resonance in India
March 2026
|OEM Update Magazine
The lights came on again in Thun. Engineers, partners and media gathered as the hum of conversation slowly filled the hall. The message was simple and strong: Motion Meeting is back. At the centre stood Fritz Studer AG. And this year, the theme carried weight: Swiss Made not as a slogan, but as a promise.
-
When people think of Switzerland, they think of chocolate, cheese and watches. But in Thun, Swiss Made meant something deeper. It meant reliability. It meant long-term thinking. It meant an engineering discipline.
The leadership team made it clear. Swiss Made is not only about tradition. It is about global thinking. It is about cultural diversity. It is about building machines that run with accuracy for decades.
For Indian manufacturing, this message matters. As India pushes deeper into aerospace, EVs, precision components and defence, reliability is no longer optional.
It is strategic. Swiss Made aligns with India's ambition to move from volume to value.
2025: A mountain climb
CEO Sandro Bottazzo described the past year as a mountain hike. The path was narrow. Markets were uncertain. Europe remained weak, especially Germany. Automotive investments slowed. Yet Studer did not lose balance.
The US market delivered strong sales despite tariff pressures. China saw major project deliveries. Asia, especially India, showed encouraging momentum. A strong final quarter helped the company exceed expectations.Order intake improved in the second half. The service business set new records. Preventive maintenance and machine overhauls grew strongly.
Studer sold machines in more than 32 countries. Asia became the largest region. Aerospace emerged as the company's largest single segment in its history. For India, this is important. Aerospace growth signals opportunity. India is building its aerospace supply chain. Precision grinding will play a central role.
S23 signals strategic expansion
