SONY'S WH-1000XM SERIES of headphones has consistently been rated among the best in the business since its release. Now, three years on from the previous generation, the MX6 adds significant new tech. The price remains comparable with the Bose QuietComfort Ultra ($449, www.bose.com) and less than Apple's aging AirPods Max ($499, www.apple.com), but is still a moderate investment.

Available in three colors — Black, Midnight Blue, and Platinum Silver — the design has changed a little and the headphones can now fold down, which makes them much easier to transport in their accompanying hard case. The adjustable headband is stepless, and the headphones weigh just 0.56lbs, ensuring they're comfortable to wear for long periods.
