APPLE HAS BEEN the company that thought differently ever since it was founded in Steve Jobs' parents' garage in Los Altos, California, by the two Steves, Jobs and Wozniak, back in 1976. Apple has always innovated. It went its own way from Microsoft and stood out with the iPod. Then, when it launched the iPhone in 2007, and then its associated App Store, it asked you to buy into its own walled garden, where you would be safe and secure and could play happily, just as long as you didn't step outside.
