Add serious storage without breaking the bank

APPLE STOPPED ALLOWING you to manually upgrade the storage and indeed the memory inside new Macs years ago. Initially, this was in service of making the bodies smaller and, now, because Apple solders these components to the logic board. The problem is that you're forced to choose an SSD capacity when ordering your Mac, and Apple charges a hefty premium for larger drives. While external drives have existed for years, they can be cumbersome, and are often much slower than internal ones.
