According to a new report by Mercom India Research, the solar sector in India surged, with 5 GW installed in Q2 2024, showing a 170 percent Year-over-Year increase from 2023 but a 49 percent Quarter-over-Quarter drop due to infrastructure delays and regulatory impacts.

A recent report by Mercom India Research highlights a significant surge in India’s solar energy sector during the first half of 2024. Over this period, the country added an impressive 14.9 GW of new solar capacity, representing a remarkable increase of more than 282 percent compared to the same timeframe in 2023. This achievement has set new records for half-yearly and annual solar capacity additions.
