 A STRATEGIC MOVE INTO HEALTHCARE
The deal, announced by the South Korean tech giant, aims to merge Samsung's wearable technology, like the Galaxy Watch and Galaxy Ring, with Xealth’s digital health platform, which connects over 500 U.S. hospitals to patients.
The acquisition, set to close by year’s end pending regulatory approval, marks Samsung's third non-chip purchase in 2025, following a €1.5 billion deal for Germany's FläktGroup and Masimo’s $350 million audio business.
Xealth, spun out of Providence Health in 2017, enables doctors to prescribe and monitor digital health tools, like apps for medication tracking or patient condition monitoring, as easily as medications. Its network, including Advocate Health and Banner Health, integrates data into clinical workflows, enhancing care delivery.

The financial terms remain undisclosed, but the move signals Samsung's push to diversify beyond its struggling semiconductor and smartphone sectors.
The acquisition aligns with Samsung's goal to make healthcare a growth engine, alongside robotics and consumer audio. Despite a projected 56% profit drop due to weak Al chip sales, the company’s $307 billion market cap supports bold bets like Xealth, aiming to tap the $400 billion digital health market. Challenges include integrating Xealth’s platform and navigating a competitive landscape, but the deal positions Samsung to redefine connected care.
