Wade pulls the curtain down in fine style

PERENNIAL entertainer Christian Wade said his goodbyes to Kingsholm in sensational style by scoring two long-range tries and creating another for Seb Atkinson.
Without Wade's efforts and a hat-trick from 19-year-old wing Jack Cotgreave, Gloucester would have been in grave danger of losing to a spirited Saints, who made 14 changes from last week's heroics in their Champions Cup final defeat.
Gloucester head coach George Skivington said: "It was not our best performance today but we still got the job done. We went at it on a gung-ho basis in the first quarter and that played into their hands and they did a great job.
"We then brought some physicality to our game to get us over the line but it wasn't enough for the play-off spot.
"Wadey is a great character as he's always upbeat. He's loved his time here but you always have constraints with your budget and I'm sure he will do well at Wigan."
