Tshiunza: There's no panic at Chiefs
January 19, 2025
|The Rugby Paper
AS Christ Tshiunza reflected on what has been a frustrating season for the Wales forward, he recalled a recent conversation he had with England wing Manny Feyi-Waboso.
"We were the only two players in the squad who had not been on the winning side this season," said Exeter's back five forward ahead of Friday's defeat at Ulster. "We both missed the league victory over Gloucester and were away for the Premiership Cup while Manny was injured when England beat Japan.
"We talk as a group about keeping positive.
The season is not as strange as it may look from the outside and we are focusing on ourselves as we strive to get better every week. We have had highs and lows perfor mances wise and it is about getting on the right side of results." Exeter are enduring their worst season since winning promotion to the Premiership in 2010 with one victory in the Premiership and two chastening home defeats to French opposition in the Champions Cup.
Tshiunza had no more joy with Wales in the autumn, featuring in their matches against Fiji, Australia and South Africa, which all ended in defeat, as the two summer Tests he started in Australia did, and he feared his lack of minutes with Exeter would cost him a place in the Six Nations squad.
