NORTHAMPTON put their finals day ghosts behind them to win their first Premiership U18 Academy final since 2014.

- By TOM JEFFREYS

Northampton get it right this time

In their fourth final in a row, Saints finally got over the line to avenge last year’s final defeat to Bath with a 31-14 victory.

It adds to their titles from 2013 and 2014, which bodes well for their current crop of youngsters given the calibre of names that last won 11 years ago.

George Furbank, Lewis Ludlam, Rory Hutchinson, Alex Mitchell, Harry Mallinder and Rotimi Segun were all part of Saints’ last team to win the competition, and Saints’ glory was compounded when 11 of their squad were picked in Jonathan Pendlebury’s England U18 squad.
