WINNING 3-1 at Warrington Rylands, and with their nearest rivals dropping points, Macclesfield tightened their grip on the league, extending their lead at the top to 22 points with just 10 games to play.

Rylands, whose 12-game unbeaten run came to an end in midweek, started brightly and went close to opening the scoring in the third minute.

A Harrison Hopper through-ball split the Macclesfield defence wide open, but Alex Kiwomya's shot was blocked by the feet of Macclesfield goalkeeper Max Dearnley. The rebound fell to Jake Daniels, who sent his shot from the edge of the area over the bar.

Rylands broke the deadlock in the 11th minute when a Ben Hardcastle cross found George Waring, who stooped to head home from close range.
