SCUNTHORPE UNITED’S 100% record was ended late on by fellow promotion hopefuls Chorley, with Bermudian forward Kole Hall netting late to give the Magpies a point on the road.

Danny Whitehall, now the Iron’s top goalscorer with three to his name, had given the home side the advantage just before half-time, before Hall found himself in space to roll home the equaliser in the 85th minute. Despite dropping two points, United remain top on goal difference having taken ten points from their opening quartet of encounters.

Andy Butler, Scunthorpe’s boss, said: “It was a tough game, and I thought Chorley battled really well, were direct in their approach and caused us a few issues. For me, putting a positive spin on it, we’re still unbeaten, and we move on. We’ve got a lot of things to improve on.”
