...but board say 3G pitch plans shelved

A REMAINING director is backing crisis club Farsley Celtic to survive the exit of chairman Paul Barthorpe - but its much-delayed 3G pitch has been shelved.

Owner Barthorpe stood down from the board on Tuesday, issuing a blistering 800word statement on the club's website that said Farsley's Step 2 status had been maintained through "predominantly my wallet" and citing "stress related heart issues" that he appeared to align with the actions of angry fans.

Matters came to a head last weekend when manager Neil Redfearn and assistant Pav Singh also Redfearn's predecessor were absent from Farsley's 6-1 home defeat to Needham Market.

Confirmation of their exits was the latest turn of a merrygo-round of players and managers while groundsharing 70 miles away at Buxton, necessitated as under-soil complications and disagreements with contractors put back work on a new synthetic pitch that had been due to open at the start of this season and billed as a financial lifeline.
