A DEVANTE Rodney brace inspired Rochdale to a first win in five as Aldershot's nine-match unbeaten run came to an end.

The striker pounced twice and created another for rampant Rochdale, who remain in the play-off positions and with two games in hand.

Sam Beckwith and Ian Henderson were also on target for the hosts and head coach, Jimmy McNulty, said: "It was an emphatic win against a team who have been in a real purple patch.

"We were aware of their dangers, yet our level of performance was exceptional.

"It was a real elite collective effort and I don't think the scoreline flattered us.

"The team has shower character all season and the way they've reacted is everything I wanted it to be."

The Shots, who had won six of their last eight, were poor from the start and went behind on 15 minutes thanks to Beckwith.
