PORTSMOUTH boss John Mousinho was delighted to get back to winning ways as he marked his first full year in charge of the leaders with a battling win at lowly Fleetwood.

Having been handed the Fratton Park reins exactly 12 months ago, the rookie manager had seen his promotion-chasing side stutter in recent weeks.

Three defeats from their last five league matches had caused concern that the onetime runaway leaders were about to throw away all their early season success.

However, Mousinho hailed this display as one of the most important of the campaign as Abu Kamara delivered a moment of class to seal a welcome three points.

Mousinho admitted it was a welcome win for Pompey, though he would have preferred his side to kill opposing teams off when they are dominating.

“It feels like, and it felt before the game, that it would be up there with the most important and best wins of the season,” he said. “Especially with all the circumstances – coming into the game off the back of a really poor performance, tough conditions, a tough pitch, to win the game was the most important thing.
