The 2016/17 season will go down as one of the more historic in South African football, with Mamelodi Sundowns being crowned African champions in a sensational come-from-nowhere bid for continental supremacy.

But it was also notable for the bizarre fact that no fewer than five goals were scored by goalkeepers, including one nominated for FIFA's Puskás Award for the best goal anywhere in the world!

Mzimela scored what proved to be a game-winning goal in a remarkable personal performance in which he also saved a penalty from Lamontville Golden Arrows.

The keeper had been known to take spot kicks in shootouts in the past, but had not done so during regulation time before.

Coach Cavin Johnson says he had no qualms about handing over the responsibility to Mzimela.
