If Frank Sinatra’s Love and Marriage was rewritten with a cycling theme, Sean Kelly and the Vitus 979 would surely be the top contenders to replace the horse and carriage of the original.
The famous French bike, with its slender anodised tubes and smooth aluminium cast lugs, was ridden to countless pro victories in the 1980s by the hard-as-nails, charismatic Irishman.
