Indian cricket is all set to get a new selection committee soon. In the wake of the Men in Blue’s semi-final exit from the T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) sacked the entire selection committee led by Chetan Sharma. There was plenty of cynicism around the committee due to multiple reasons. The bottom line was that the Indian team failed to deliver with the Sharma-led selection committee in charge. They did well in the bilaterals. However, they failed to reach the semi-finals in last year’s T20 World Cup, lost the World Test Championship (WTC) final, and also came second best in the T20 World Cup 2022 semis to England. As India prepare to welcome a new selection committee, we look at major challenges in store for the team.
