Team India, under the leadership of Rohit Sharma, won the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. On Sunday. India overcame New Zealand in the final at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai. It was a hard-fought win in the end, as India also made sure to end unbeaten from 5 matches in the tournament, defeating the Kiwis twice in the process. This was India's 3rd Champions Trophy win (one shared) as Rohit became the 2nd Indian skipper to win multiple white-ball ICC events across formats after MS Dhoni, who won three.

Once again, India’s spin-heavy quartet made the difference, reducing the Kiwis to 251/7 in 50 overs. New Zealand did reasonably well toward the end and put up a decent total from their position. The likes of Daryl Mitchell and Michael Bracewell scored valuable fifties for the team as Rachin Ravindra impressed up front. For India, Varun Chakravarthy and Kuldeep Yadav claimed two scalps each. In response, India made a rampant start in pursuit of 252. Skipper Rohit and his opening partner Shubman Gill added 105 runs. However, the side lost three wickets for 17 runs, including captain Rohit for 76 and Virat Kohli for one. Shreyas Iyer, who was India’s top scorer in the tournament, chipped in with a clutch 48. Axar Patel also made his presence felt with a knock of 29 to leave 49 runs to get from 51 balls.

Hardik Pandya (18) and KL Rahul (34*) did well towards the end as Ravindra Jadeja hit the winning runs with an over to spare. India were a step ahead in the contest thanks to their spinners once again.
