A NEW DAWN IN GUJARAT

The much-anticipated Defence Expo-2022 event concluded in Ahmedabad on October 22. The exhibition themed as the 'Path to Pride' was India's biggest ever Defence Expo till date. The event showcased the growing prowess of the Indian defence industry, which is one of the major drivers of the nation's resolve to achieve 'Make in India, Make for the World' as envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The biennial exhibition in a 4-venue format was organised to support, showcase and forge partnerships for the Indian aerospace and defence manufacturing ecosystem with domestic as well as global customers to achieve the overall objective of catering to India's strategic requirements while fulfilling the needs of friendly foreign countries. A five-day live demonstration with indigenous platforms and drone show were also held at Sabarmati riverfront to showcase India's military prowess. A whopping 1300 start-ups participated at DefExpo. It was also the first Defence Expo commemorating the first anniversary of the corporatisation of the Ordnance Factory Board (OFB). All seven DPSUS participated at the event. 21 seminars spread across three days witnessed the union government engaging itself in detailed deliberations with industries, industry associations, academia, state governments, and eminent panellists of various thinktanks. This will reshape the possible trajectory of the defence manufacturing industry in the post Covid new world order.
