DepEd welcomes 3-term calendar for public schools
March 24, 2026
|malaya Business Insight
THE Department of Education on Monday voiced its firm support for the Cabinet-level endorsement of the three-term school calendar beginning with school year 2026-2027.
Education Secretary Sonny Angara issued the statement after President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. approved the adoption of a three-term school calendar in public schools starting this coming school year to ensure uninterrupted learning and improve the academic standing of students.
The Presidential Communications Office on Sunday said the directive was issued upon the recommendation of the Economic and Development Council during its 8th meeting in Malacanang last week.
“This reform strategically addresses longstanding systemic inefficiencies, such as the documented loss of up to 53 school days in the school year 2023-2024. By redesigning how time is structured in schools, the reform ensures learning,” Angara said.
