How times have changed.

Ford's legendary Transit turns 60 this summer and back then was considered state-of-the-art at £560, even though for the money - under £10,000 in today's terms - came with only the bare minimum.

Essentials such as screen washers, seat belts and even a heater were all options, as was a passenger seat. And like many other vans even exterior paint was optional!

So today's van user enjoys a much easier life, enjoying power steering, electronic stability control, air bags, central locking, air conditioning, automatic head lamp activation, and much, much more - even on entry range models.
