New employment laws need refining to protect jobs

New employment laws to protect workers’ rights could undermine efforts to improve growth and get more people into employment, if they aren't carefully refined.
These concerns were highlighted by employers in new CIPD analysis which explored their views on the likely impact of the Government's Employment Rights Bill (ERB) on their employment costs and practices.
Employment costs to rise
Almost eight out of ten employers believe measures in the ERB, including the introduction of a new statutory probation period, new rights for zero-hours workers and changes to Statutory Sick Pay (SSP), will have the effect of increasing workforce costs.
